It can’t have escaped your notice that Fashion Week is well and truly upon us. We have to admit that here at Boon Models – one of the most prominent up-and-coming NYC modeling agencies – we consider the twice-yearly fashion weeks the most exciting time of the year and they are gaining more and more momentum with every year that passes. This has never been truer than now, especially with certain fashion ‘sets’ making regular appearances at all the hottest shows. Therefore, we thought we’d put together a little guide for you to know who’s who and the best people to follow in the media:
Not surprisingly, this fashionable clique is made up of the world’s most influential fashion editors including former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris Carine Roitfield, Dasha Zhukova of Garage Magazine and fashion writer Derek Blasberg.
The biggest thing to note about these influential fashion names is not only their successful, influential careers but also the fact that they are best pals with all the top models and designers. Hence putting them at the front-running of up-to-the-minute style and inspiration.
‘The Designers / Innovators’
Ok yes, it does seem blatantly obvious that we would want to keep our eyes on the designers throughout fashion week but did you know that there are various creative cliques that stick together within the industry itself? Some of these consist of Karl Lagerfeld, Carine Roitfield (again) and Stephan Gan (ex Creative Director of Harper’s Bazaar). Then there is Matthew Williamson who is the leader in a trail of the most influential British models and designers including fellow creative Henry Holland and best friend/muse Sienna Miller.
‘The New Yorkers’
Never more at home than on their home turf, the New York style set take the fashion weeks by storm every year, making sure that they resonate the direct, ‘to the point’ elegance of New York style. Some of the top names to watch out for include Rosie Assoulin and Leandra Medine.
‘The Brit Pack’
The set that is largely made up of some of the coolest, edgiest models in the world, flying the flag for vintage British style. Some of the key players that you’re sure to reconginize are Alexa Chung, Laura Bailey and Poppy Delevingne (sister to supermodel Cara), who are of course majorly sought after and known to all the top designers in the world.
Alongside the celebrity power couples that are becoming all the more regular at Fashion Weeks such as Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, the more understated fashion power couples such as Logan Horne and Michael Woodcock are really the ones you’re going to want to keep your eye on. They will be at all of the best parties without all of the media fuss and therefore make their presence more about the fashion itself.
